Phillips dePury, Design , Vienna and the Wiener Werkstaette - Out of all the opportunities a City like New York is offering for how to spend a nice,sunny Saturday I found myself in the lucky situation to get Invited to Phillips de Pury Preview for the Auction of works from the Wiener Werkstaetten by New Yorks most thought after and talented Food Stylist Jamie Kimm. What could be more fun? Champagne, splendid Company and the beautiful stunning Work of this superb Craftmanship and Park Avenue. As going Uptown just takes about ten minutes and the Phillips dePury Building itself is a fun place to visit why stay home or waste your time with being boring? On two floors your eyes get please with the most beautiful exhibits of Josef Hoffmann, Otto Wagner , Marcel Kammerer, Koloman Moser and many more who take you to another world . A very beautiful I dare call it and, as beautiful as the shown pieces where my fellow visitors did not fail to please the eye to. A very glamorous scene with lots of cute mink ponchos and lovely diamonds. Going to an event like that with an English Gentleman one can be sure to be with the best dressed man , which never hurts but one has to be honest, Phillips dePury male guests also really tried their best . No Fur though! Which I personally think needs to find a Comeback. Josef Hoffmanns Rare Box Model made of Silver-pleated Alpaca as well as the lamps from Baron Moldauer’s Residence from 1916 where amongst those pieces who got the most attention . And I wonder who will be the lucky Lady who will find herself presented with the absolute rare , delicate and beautiful pendant from Koloman Moser from 1912 that starts the auction with a price from USD400.000.- .Easter is just around the corner, no? But then who are we kidding , who needs causes when it comes to being presented with diamonds. I would also like to mention the fantastic catering at Phillips dePury. The drinks never fail! Champagne was flowing and they offered everything that Austrian cuisine has to offer to make my Austrian heart happy. My foodstylist Company had the laugh of the day as the Waiter offered him a piece of “the famous Vietnamese Chocolate Cake”.He later told me tho that it tasted nearly as good as the Viennese Chocolate Cake that he had at his last visit at Hotel Imperial in Vienna. Who knew Vietnam is a rival when it comes to Chocolate cakes. Luckily Barney’s is just around the Corner so you can make the most of the Champagne influenced mood and all the inspiring beauty on ones mind. And if you are exhausted and need a break, please Le Caprice Restaurant at Le Pierre Hotel is just another two minutes away and will help you relax. After our champagne lunch…we headed into our cab and congratulated ourselves on our behavior (not being at all John Galliano like….) All in all I am very forward looking to the Auction of Phillips dePury itself in March , again on Park Avenue as well as their next invitation for Drinks.
